The Well Crew is a wellness initiative managed by the Societies Office and sponsored by The Bank of Ireland to provide a supportive and welcoming environment in the student common room. This includes an info desk, a kitchen, games to borrow and the organisation of activities to support wellbeing, health and fun. Be sure to call for a visit.
Meet the crew:
JJ is a recent law graduate and is a member of the Societies Office. She was first introduced to Societies in her second year when she became a Baking Assistant with the NUIG Baking Society. In her final year of college she was the Auditor of the Baking Society and helped to establish the Failte Refugees Society on campus. Her top 5 favourite things are Baking, Cooking, Reading, Family and Travel. Her biggest pet peeve is wet sponges. She has been looking forward to the Kitchen for over a year and is happy to finally be able to work with students to create a space where everyone can enjoy food and company.
Cliona returned home to Galway in 2012 after ten years of travel and is a mature student in second year Commerce. A proud Gaeilgeoir from Inis Mór, the largest of the Aran Islands, she is delighted to be joining the WELL Crew. She enjoys meeting new people, rugby, cinema, drama, music, comedy, nights out, and above all, travelling to new places. Cliona is looking forward to assisting students with any queries they have in her new residence at the Hub, so pop in for a chat anytime.
Megan is a second year Commerce student and a Texas native. She decided to study in Ireland to experience life in a different country (and to escape the heat). When she’s not helping out in the Hub, she enjoys cooking and eating new foods, reading, listening to music and exploring her new home. Her favourite part about life in Galway is that there is always something going on (her least favourite part is the lack of tacos). Megan is really looking forward to serving you as a member of the WELL Crew. She is always open to friendly conversation and meeting new people from all over the world, so be sure to say hello when you see her.
Corey is a 2nd-year commerce mature student in NUIG. Born in Dublin he has lived in Galway for 20 years and has well erased any trace of Dub from his DNA. Corey has worked in the fields of hospitality, production, and retail and has returned to education with a keen interest in eCommerce and IT for business. His hobbies include practising Mixed Martial Arts and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, playing and watching football, basketball and reading about the study of consciousness and the universe, and watching Spongebob Squarepants. Corey has a passion for mental health awareness and acceptance, with previous training in ASIST which he hopes to develop while in University among other things while in The Hub, is approachable and here to listen if anyone wants to talk about anything from life problems to the weekend’s sports.
